TCM Knowledge:Febrile Disease and Cold-induced Disease according to ShangHanLun. ✵The Seasonal febrile disease is also known as warm disease, acute externally contracted febrile disease caused by warm pathogens, clinically manifested chiefly as fever.

 ✵Herbalist Zhang Zhongjing defined the warm disease in 3 syndromes, and known as Spring warm disease, autumn warm, winter warm. These 3 syndromes all attributed to latent Qi or latent pathogen.

 ✧The spring warm, is an acute febrile disease caused by latent warm-heat pathogen, marked by presence of internal heat at the onset. Herbalist Zhang Zhongjing defined the spring warm as the latent pathogen hide in the Shaoyin for affected by cold pathogen in winter, present as warm disease in spring, and known as spring warm.

 ✦The autumn warm, defined by herbalist Zhang Zhongjing as affected by dampness, the latent pathogen hide in the Taiyin, present as warm disease in autumn when the dryness climate comes, and known as autumn warm.

 ✧The winter warm, defined by herbalist Zhang Zhongjing as Qi comes not to the normal seasonal order, great cold in the early winter, dryness collect inside, the latent pathogen hide in the Jueyin, after the winter solstice, the weather should be cold but in fact warm, result the warm disease present, and known as winter warm.
