Vexation-restlessness:an introduction about its pathogenic reasons and etiology, syndrome differentiation and syndromes.
✵Vexation-restlessness:vexation-restlessness, refers to dysphoria with smothery sensation and restlessness in the heart, uneasy and restlessness of the hands and feet. Vexation and restlessness are two syndromes, vexation is mostly self-conscious, restlessness is mostly noticed by others, and the two syndromes are often observed in each other, so they are often called vexation and restlessness.
Vexation-restlessness (vexation followed by restlessness).
✵Vexation-restlessness: vexation followed by restlessness, either due to Yang deficiency or Yin excess. It is also known as irritability, dysphoria.
Irritability (vexation-restlessness) is a disease of heat in the heart meridian. Main types of vexation-restlessness due to heat in the heart meridian are introduced:
The body has no fever, dizziness, dry mouth and sleeplessness, is the dysphoria (heart deficiency and annoyance).
Dysphoria with smothery sensation, mistakenly induced perspiration, fever turns severe, leads to vomiting.
Heat in the interior and headache, shortness of breath, congestion of the heart and in chaotic.
Dysphoria with smothery sensation, restless and uneasy in sleeping.
Worrying and anxiety, develops to dysphoria and consumptive disease.
Kidney deficiency, restlessness and irritability of the heart, thinness in the lower part of the body, and painful urination.
Dysphoria, the heart is disturbed, depressed; or deficiency of the Ying blood, Yang is excessive and Yin is weak; or the heart fire flows upward, so the deficient heat generates vexation, even to restlessness.
After a serious illness, the blood is not recovered and gets vexed. Heat in the heart leads to annoying, kidney heat leads to restlessness.
There are vexation and restlessness of cold-induced disease, and they are different from vexation and restlessness of the lungs and kidneys.
Vexation and restlessness of cold-induced disease.
Vexation-restlessness, refers to dysphoria with smothery sensation and restlessness in the heart, uneasy and restlessness of the hands and feet. Vexation and restlessness are two syndromes, vexation is mostly self-conscious, restlessness is mostly noticed by others, and the two syndromes are often observed in each other, so they are often called vexation and restlessness.
The vexation-restlessness of the three Yangs channels, all of which occur before perspiration, is mostly an excess syndrome, belonging to the three Yang channels, while the vexation-restlessness of the three Yin channels, all of which occurs after sweating, is mostly a deficiency syndrome, belonging to the three Yin channels, which are divided into three kinds of deficiency: Yin deficiency, Yang deficiency, and both deficiency of Yin and Yang. According to Zhongjing's book, they are mainly:
(1).Vexation and restlessness from cold in the exterior and heat in the interior: In the syndrome of exterior cold and interior heat, Yang heat is stagnant internally, makes heart and mind chaotic, disturbing hands and feet, so vexation and restlessness is observed.
(2).Vexation and restlessness from endogenous heat of Yangming: body fluid in Yangming is hurt from exuberant heat, and there is dysphoria (vexation and restlessness) and uneasiness in the heart, excess of Yang leads to restlessness of hands and feet.
(3).Vexation and restlessness from excess syndrome of Yangming Fu-viscera: Its main features are dryness-heat hurt the body fluid, accumulation and stagnation in Yangming.
(4).Vexation and restlessness from stagnation of heat in Jueyin: Its main features of syndrome is liver stagnation conversion to fire, vexation and restlessness.
(5).Vexation and restlessness from coldness in the middle and vomiting:cold pathogen invades the interior, deficiency cold in the middle energizer, cold pathogen counterflows upward seriously, thus leads to frequent and wildly vomiting, and disturb the mind, restlessness of limbs.
(6).Vexation and restlessness from Yang deficiency of Shaoyin: one's physical condition is Yang deficiency, or cold pathogen attack directly, lead to Yang deficiency and Yin excess in Shaoyin. Pathogenic cold disturbs the heart, thus leads to vexation and restlessness. There are mainly three types.
Vexation and restlessness from Yang deficiency of the heart: Its common symptoms are palpitation and chest distress, pale tongue and weak pulse, or knotted and intermittent pulse, lacking strength, etc.
Vexation and restlessness from Yang deficiency of the kidney: vexation and restlessness are obvious in daytime, turns quiet at night.
Vexation and restlessness from separation of Yin and Yang: Yang is extremely deficient, and develops to separation of Yin and Yang. Its characters of vexation and restlessness are mainly restlessness, in daytime and at night.
(7).Vexation and restlessness from deficiency of Yin and Yang: uneasy, vexation and restlessness. The syndrome is mainly Yang deficiency.
(8).Vexation and restlessness from deficiency of Yin and hurt of body fluid:exogenous disease, mistakenly treat, hurt of Yin blood and body fluid, and mostly has vexation and restlessness.
(9).Vexation and restlessness from healthy energy deficiency and pathogenic excess: accumulation of water and heat in chest. If pathogenic factors are excessive, health Qi cannot support, and vexation and restlessness is observed, its prognosis is not good, Zhongjing stated it is incurable.
(10).Vexation and restlessness from lung distension and retained fluid heat: retained fluid accumulate in the lung, thus lead to vexation and restlessness.
(11).Vexation and restlessness from fluid adversion attacking heart: retained fluid attack the heart, and makes heart and mind chaotic, disturb limbs, and there is vexation and restlessness.
(12).Vexation and restlessness from tawny sweating and damp stagnation: the disease of tawny sweating (yellow sweat), leads to vexation, chaos and vexation in the heart and mind, limbs and body are restless.
Vexation and restlessness of other types.
Except vexation and restlessness of heat in the heart meridian, vexation and restlessness from cold-induced disease, other types of vexation and restlessness are introduced:
(13).Vexation and restlessness from invasion of heat into Ying blood:warm pathogen attack and enters internally to Ying blood, restlessness of hands and feet, and vexation is observed.
(14).Vexation and restlessness from phlegm-heat attacking internally:phlegm-stagnation for long period, stagnation and generates fire, and later accumulated and form phlegm and turbid, phlegm and fire binding together, disturb the heart and mind, and there is fidget and restlessness.
(15).Vexation and restlessness from blood stasis attacking the heart:pathogenic heat enter deeply into blood and collaterals, obstacle of blood circulation, stagnation and block the heart; or blood stasis of long period, stagnation and transform to heat, heat accumulation and blood stagnation, disturb heart and mind upwardly.
(16).Vexation and restlessness from Shaoyang heat stagnation:its symptoms are thoracic and hypochondriac fullness and oppression, fidget and restlessness, delirious speech (wild talks), frightened and fearful, uneasy, difficult urination, somatic heaviness, unable to move around, tongue coating is thin and yellow, pulse is wiry and rapid.
(17).Vexation and restlessness from fire excess of Yin deficiency: chronic disease hurt Yin, or internal injury caused by excess of seven emotions, or weakness of aging, insufficiency of kidney Yang, floating of fire flows upward and disturb heart and mind.
