Major Works and Academic Contributions
Fu Ke Bei Kao (References for Gynecology) is a specialized treatise on obstetrics and gynecology, compiled by synthesizing earlier medical theories and integrating the author’s clinical experience. Its text is lucid and accessible, its organization is clear, its theoretical framework is sound, its therapeutic methods and prescriptions are comprehensive, and its pharmacological applications are refined—making it highly practical. The book comprises four volumes: Volumes 1 and 3 focus on medical theory, while Volumes 2 and 4 contain numerous prescriptions for clinical reference—likely the reason for its title, "References of Gynaecology". It was first compiled and printed around the twenty-fifth year of the Jiaqing reign (1820 CE) and reprinted the following year, the first year of the Daoguang reign (1821 CE). After publication, it gained wide circulation.
