Introduction: The emetic method—also known as emesis—is one of the eight principal therapeutic methods, employed to expel noxious substances (harmful substances, e.g., retained phlegm, undigested food, or toxins) via pharmacological emetics or mechanical stimulation to induce vomiting.

Introduction: The emetic method—also known as emesis—is one of the eight principal therapeutic methods, employed to expel noxious substances (harmful substances, e.g., retained phlegm, undigested food, or toxins) via pharmacological emetics or mechanical stimulation to induce vomiting.
Emesis: also known as emetic method, one of the eight principal therapeutic methods used to expel noxious substances(such as retained phlegm, undigested food or toxic substances) by using emetics or mechanical stimulation to induce vomiting.
Mechanical induction of vomiting: method of inducing vomiting with mechanical stimulation of the soft palate or throat.
Contraindications for emesis: conditions that make emetic therapy inadvisable, e.g., insufficiency of the spleen and stomach, hemorrhagic diseases, old age, and debility.
