Yin Pulse of Qi Bo and Endogenous Three Yin Syndromes of Jie Gu.

Introduction.
Yin Pulse of Qi Bo and Endogenous Three Yin Syndromes of Jie Gu.
 ✵岐伯(Qí Bó), a famous physician in the reign period of Huangdi(2698~2589B.C.). He was asked by the emperor to taste various kinds of herbs and to study herb medicine and pharmacy. The first and greatest medical work produced in China, the Huangdi Nei Jing(The Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic), mainly consists of questions and answers between Huangdi and Qi Bo on health.

 ✵张元素(Zhāng Yuánsù): herbalist physician of the 12th century, also known as 张洁古(Zhang Jiegu).He made the bold announcement that in view of the different conditions between ancient times it was impossible to treat new diseases with old methods, discarded obsolete traditional formulas and devised a system of his own. Most of the doctors of the Jin-Yuan period(around the year 1115-1368) were influenced by his teachings. He was the author of the Zhen Zhu Nang(The Pearl Bag) and other medical works. He was the founder of the Yishui School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, among his disciples, were such eminent herbalists as Li Dongyuan and Wang Haogu. Jiegu is the alternative name of Zhang Yuansu.

Yin Pulse of Qi Bo
Yin Pulse of Qi Bo
 ✦The Yin and Yang Pulse of Qi Bo was introduced as:

 ✧Renying one exuberance, sick in Shao Yang; Renying double exuberance, sick in Tai Yang; Renying triple exuberance, sick in Yang Ming; Renyin forth exuberance, Rejecting Yang(Ge Yang).

 Renying Qi XuanZi(Herbalist Wang Bing) noted: it is the method of Yang Pulse, Shao Yang is the Gallbladder meridian, Tai Yang is the Urinary bladder meridian, Yang Ming is the Stomach meridian. As the ancient works Ling Shu(the Spiritual Pivot of Huangdi's Internal Classic) noted, one exuberance and agitated is in the Hand Shao Yang; double exuberance and agitated is in the Hand Tai Yang; triple exuberance and agitated is in the Hand Yang Ming. Hand Shao Yang, is the Triple-Energizer meridian; Hand Tai Yang, is the small intestine meridian; Hand Yang Ming, is the large-intestine meridian. One exuberance means the pulse at Renying, is one time of the pulse at Cunkou, over four times, Yang excess to the extreme, rejecting Yang and could not take any food. In correct classical works: Rejecting Yang and vomit throw up.

 ✧Cunkou one exuberance, sick in Jue Yin; Cunkou double exuberance, sick in Shao Yin; Cunkou triple exuberance, sick in Tai Ying; Cunkou fourth exuberance, is the pulse with Predominant Yin(Guan Yin).

 Cunkou Qi XuanZi(Herbalist Wang Bing) noted:it is the method of Yin Pulse, Jue Yin is the Liver meridian, Shao Yin is the Kidney meridian, Tai Yin is the Spleen meridian. As the ancient works Ling Shu(the Spiritual Pivot of Huangdi's Internal Classic) noted, one exuberance and agitated, is in the Hanf Jue Yin; double exuberance and agitated, is the Hand Shao Yin; triple exuberance and agitated, is the Hang Tai Yin. Hand Jue Yin, is the pericardium meridian; Hand Shao Yin, is the heart meridian; Hand Tai Yin, is the lung meridian. The exuberance method is the same as the Yang pulse, over four times, Yin excess to the extreme, obstruction and urinary stoppage. In correct classical works: Obstruction and could not urinate.

 ✧Renyin and Cunkou pulse both over four times exuberance, is the pulse of obstruction and rejection, emaciation(deficiency enough) and could not accept the Essence and Qi between the sky and the land, then will die.

 As the ancient works Ling Shu(the Spiritual Pivot of Huangdi's Internal Classic) noted, Yin and Yang both excess, could not support each other, thus known as obstruction and rejection, not only suffering from vomit and throw up, or could not urinate.

Endogenous Three Yin Syndromes of Jie Gu.
张元素Zhāng Yuánsù:Jie Gu
 ✦The Endogenous Three Yin Syndromes of Jie Gu was introduced as:

 ✧The birth of human being, transformed from Essence and Qi of five grains, the five tastes prepared, thus generate the form and structure of the body. As the ancient works Nei Jing recorded: "tastes return to the shape." If hurt from the tastes, it also could damage the shape(the structure and form). Now the improper diet(eating and drinking without temperance), intestines and stomach could not perform its normal functions, Qi could not transform it, as a result, hurt the spleen. A conclusion is that: eating twice as usual, the intestines and the stomach are hurt. Or lost fitness care in four seasons, as a result sick. As the ancient works Nei Jing recorded: "The Qi kou(cunkou pulse) is Kun(one of the Eight Diagrams, denoting the earth), the cunkou is the symptoms of the spleen, as a result, the spleen and stomach is hurt.

 ✧The cunkou pulse tight and excess and hurt, there are mild case and severe case:

  »Cunkou one exuberance, pulse arrive 6, hurt in the Jue Yin, is the mild case;

  »Cunkou double exuberance, pulse arrive 7, hurt the Shao Yin, is the severe case;

  »Cunkou triple exuberance, pulse arrive 8 to 9, hurt the Tai Yin, is the special severe case, so obstruction and depression chaotic, great pain in chest and heart, desire to vomit, once vomited then will relieved, known as Shi Mi Feng("Obsessed with Food Wind")

 As the works Nei Jing recorded: there is a pulse at the upper, there is no pulse at the lower, should vomit, if not vomit then will die. Better induce vomiting. If one could not vomit, then no treatment is available.

 ✧Conclusion from herbalist 王好古(Wáng Hǎogǔ): "The endogenous three Yin syndromes of Jie Gu, was originated from the Yin pulse of Qi Bo, which recorded in Ling Shu of Nei Jing(the Spiritual Pivot of Huangdi's Internal Classic))."

  »Case take too much food(improper diet, eating and drinking without temperance), distension and oppression in the heart and the abdomen.

  »Case same as above(take too much food, distension and oppression in the heart and the abdomen), in severe conditions deficiency swelling in bilateral hypochondria(in the costal regions).

  »Case great excess and great fullness, rising of Qi upward, there is a pulse at the upper, there is no pulse at the lower, fullness obstruction oppression and in chaos, should induce vomiting.

  »Endogenous hurt from seasonal syndromes, epigastric oppression(oppression below the heart), Qi not descending(rising of Qi), rice could not be transformed(ancient description, which means diet could not be digested). In such a case, endogenous hurt and Wu Fire already decline(Wu, is the fifth of the ten Heavenly Stems), could not transform things(diets or food).

  »Deficiency and weakness of the old or young, indigestion, softness of Zang and Fu-viscera.

 ✧Conclusion from herbalist 王好古(Wáng Hǎogǔ): "There are three Yin syndromes suitable for purgation methods from Jie Gu, surely there are three Yin syndromes suitable for tonification(or invigoration) methods."
