Lecithin(phospholipid).

Lecithin natural source English Name: Lecithin.
 Other Names: Phospholipid.

Brief introduction: Lecithin is a natural compound found in all living organisms. It is a lipid manufactured by the liver and also present in the brain and other tissues, as well as in many foods, such as egg yolks, soybean, and whole grains. It is the common name for a group of compounds called phosphatidylcholine (PPCs) and is the major source of the chemical nutrient choline. A distinction must be made between natural and commercially produced lecithin. Lecithin which is manufactured commercially, usually from soybeans or egg yolks, and that is now being sold as a dietary supplement, contains variable amounts of PPCs combined with other substances. It is unlikely that choline in PPCs or in any other form can be classified as a vitamin, as some proponents have claimed, given that the body can make choline on its own.

Lecithin, also known as egg yolk, is known as the "third nutrient" alongside protein and vitamins. French Gohley discovered lecithin from egg yolk in the year 1844 and named it Lecithos (lecithin) in Greek. Lecithin can make the brain nerves get nutritional supplements in time, which is beneficial to relieve fatigue and nervous tension.

Introduction of lecithin:.

Lecithin natural source Natural source of lecithin: Phospholipids and proteins are the main components of the cell membrane. Egg yolk is rich in lecithin. Milk, soybean and yeast contain lecithin. Lecithin is mostly combined with protein in the body and exists in the form of fat protein (lipoprotein). Therefore, lecithin exists in nature in a rich manner, so it is recommended that people try to take enough kinds of food.

Study history of lecithin: In 1812, phospholipid was first discovered in the human brain by scientist Uauquelin.

In 1844, the scientist Golbley separated it from the egg yolk and named it Lecithin (lecithin) in 1850 according to Greek lekithos (egg yolk).

In 1861, the scientist Topler discovered the existence of phospholipids from plant seeds.

In 1925, scientist Leven separated lecithin (phosphatidylcholine) from other phospholipids.

In 1930, soybean phospholipid was discovered, which is by far the most abundant.

Since the 1990s, phospholipid research has made remarkable achievements in the fields of life science and brain science.

Pharmacological actions: ①.choline source; ②.relieve senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease; ③.reduce gallstone pain; ④.reduce high cholesterol levels;etc.

The choline in lecithin is necessary for the synthesis of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Lecithin may prove beneficial in controlling certain neurologic disorders, such as Tourette's syndrome and Parkinson's disease.

Lecithin daily supplements for up to six weeks helped improve memory deficits in individuals with senile dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.

Lecithin supplements reduce gallstone pain, lecithin supplements lessened the frequency of visceral pain.

Lecithin supplements reduce high cholesterol levels and decrease the incidence or progression of atherosclerosis and attendant coronary heart disease.

Medicinal efficacy: The cells of all living organisms contain lecithin, which must be present for the body to function normally, large concentrations, in particular, are found in the human nervous system and brain.

Lecithin is used in the food industry and in processed food such as margarine and ice cream to act as a thickener, emulsifier, or stabilizer, it is also used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Lecithin supplements are recommended to help remedy a host of ailments including gallstones, skin and nerve disorders, and liver damage caused by alcohol consumption.

Lecithin protects against artery-clogging fatty buildup and aiding in the prevention of heart disease.

Lecithin is an emulsifying agent that can help boost digestion of fats, especially if taken before a meal, and may in this and other ways encourage weight loss.

Lecithin derived from egg yolks has been promoted for use by people suffering from herpes, AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome), chronic fatigue syndrome, or age-related immune disorders.

 Administration of Lecithin (phospholipid):

Herbal classic books: Dosage: A common dosage is 5 to 10 grams in capsule form or 1 to 2 tablespoons granules of lecithin, which is 20 percent phosphatidylcholine.
Contraindications, Precautions and Adverse Reactions:Lecithin supplements taken in recommended amounts have not been associated with significant adverse reactions, but large doses have caused stomach and intestinal upset, vomiting, loose stools, and sweating in some individuals. Most adults can tolerate doses up to 20 grams per day, and in some cases 30 grams per day, with no noticeable side effects. Pregnant women should probably avoid lecithin supplements.
