✵five transport points: five points on each of the twelve meridians distributing distal to the elbow and knees, varying in their condition of the flow of qi and blood. They are the well points, spring points, stream points, river points and sea points.
✵well points: transport points located at the end of the fingers or toes. Each of the twelve meridians has a well point. They are shaoshang(LU11),shangyang(LI1),zhongchong(PC9),guanchong(TE1),shaochong(HT9),shaoze(SI1),yinbai(SP1),lidui(ST45),dadun(LR1),zuqiaoyin(GB44),yongquan(KI1),and zhiyin(BL67).They are mainly used for emergency revival.
✵spring points: transport points located at the distal ends of the limbs mainly in the metacarpal and metatarsal regions. Each of the twelve meridians has a spring point, namely, yuji(LU10),erjian(LI2),laogong(PC8),yeman(TE2),shaofu(HT8),qiangu(SI2),dadu(SP2),neiting(ST44),xingjian(LR2),xiaxi(GB43),rangu(KI2),and tonggu(BL66).They are mainly used for treating febrile diseases.
✵acupoints: (1).acupoints:acupuncture points in general;(2).stream points:transport points located on the hands or feet. Each of the twelve meridians has a stream point, namely, taiyuan(LU9),sanjian(LI3),daling(PC7),zhongzhu(TE3),shenmen(HT7),houxi(SI3),taibai(SP3),xiangu(ST43),taichong(LR3),zulinqi(GB41),taixi(KI3),and shugu(BL65).They are mainly used for treating rheumatism.
✵meridian points: (1).meridian points:points on the fourteen meridians, 361 in all;(2).river points:transport points mostly located on the legs and forearms. Each of the twelve meridians has a spring point, namely, jingqu(LU8),yangxi(LI5),jianshi(PC5),zhigou(TE6),lingdao(HT4),yanggu(SI5),shangqiu(SP5),jiexi(ST41),zhongfeng(LR4),yangfu(GB38),fuliu(KI7),and kunlun(BL60).They are mainly used for treating cough, asthma, and disorders of the throat.
✵sea points: transport points mostly located on the elbow or the knee. Each of the twelve meridians has a sea point, namely, chize(LU5),quchi(LI11),quze(PC3),tianjing(TE10),shaohai(HT3),xiaohai(SI8),yinlingquan(SP9),zusanli(ST36),ququan(LR8),yanglingquan(GB34),yingu(KI10),and weizhong(BL40).They are mainly used for treating diseases of the fu organs such as the stomach and intestines.
✵source points: points where the original qi of zang-fu viscera passes or stays.,Each of the twelve meridians has a source point, namely, taiyuan(LU9),jinggu(UB64),hegu(LI4),taixi(KI3),chongyang(ST42),daling(PC7),taibai(SP3),yangchi(TE4),shenmen(HT7),qiuxu(GB40),wangu(SI4),and taichong(LR3).
✵connecting points: points for the fourteen meridians to connect the respective yin and yang meridians interior-exteriorly.The spleen meridian has two connecting points, hence fifteen in all. They are pianli(LI6),dazhong(KI4),lieque(LU7),feiyang(BL58),gongsun(SP4),waiguan(TE5),fenglong(ST40),neiguan(PC6),zhizheng(SI7),ligou(LR5),tongli(HT5),guangming(GB37),dabao(SP21),changqiang(GV1),and jiuwei(CV15).
✵cleft points: point where the meridian qi accumulates deeply. Each of the twelve meridians, together with the yin heel, yang heel, yin link, and yang link vessels, has a cleft point, hence sixteen in all. They are kongzui(LU6),huizong(TE7),ximen(PC4),yanglao(SI6),yinxi(HT6),liangqiu(ST34),wenliu(LI7),waiqiu(GB36),jinmen(UB63),fuyang(UB59),diji(SP8),jiaoxin(KI8),zhongdu(LR6),yangjiao(GB35),shuiquan(KI5),and zhubin(KI9).The cleft point is mainly used to treat acute disorders and pains in the area related to its respective meridian, and diseases of the corresponding internal viscera.
✵alarm point: point located on the chest or abdomen, where the qi of the respective internal viscus is concentrated, and so pathological reactions such as tenderness will be found if the internal viscus is diseased.Zhongfu(LU1),zhongwan(CV12),danzhong(CV17),shimen(CV5),juque(CV14),jingmen(GB25),qimen(LR14),tianshu(ST25),riyue(GB24),huanyuan(CV4),zhangmen(LR13), and zhongji(CV3) are alarm points.
✵back transport points: specific points located along the bladder meridian on the back, whither the qi of the zang-fu viscera flows, and pain upon pressure if often found when the corresponding viscera are:feishu(BL13)-lung;jueyinshu(BL14)-pericardium;xinshu(BL15)-heart;ganshu(BL18)-liver;danshu(BL19)-gallbladder;pishu(BL20)-spleen;sanjiaoshu(BL22)-triple energizer;shenshu(BL23)-kidney;dachangshu(BL25)-large intestine;xiaochangshu(BL27)-small intestine;pangguangshu(BL28)-urinary bladder.
