Pileus (cap) is orbicular, semicircle (semicircular), or nearly fan-shaped, sometimes irregular, 2–2.7 × 2.4–4.5 cm, thickness is 0.5–1.5 cm, the surface is russet (reddish-brown) or puce (purple-brown), sometimes is black-brown, has a lacquer-like luster, has concentric ring grooves and ring pattern, and vertical wrinkles; the edge is blunt or truncated; the context is divided into two layers, and the upper layer is wood color to hazel (pale brown), the part near the fungus tube is brown to dark brown (darkish brown), thickness is 0.1–0.3 cm; Fungus tube is 0.3–0.5 cm long, brown; the pore surface is white or near white; tube orifice is orbicular, 4–6 per mm. The prosthecae is dorsiferous, 5–12 (–24) cm long, 0.4–0.7 (–0.9) cm thick. Usually, it is puce (purple-brown) or atropurpureus (purple-black), glossy, often ranging in thickness, and mostly curved.

The basidiospores are oval (egg-shaped), the top has many umbilicate protuberances, a few are slightly truncated, double wall, the outer wall is colorless and transparent, smooth, the inner wall is hazel (pale brown), no spinules or spinules are inconspicuous, 8.7–11.6 x 5.8–7.8 μm ( originally record was 10–12 or 13 x 6.2–8.7 μm ).
