Botanical description: Ganoderma capense (Lloyd) D.A.Reid is a fungus of the Ganodermataceae or Polyporaceae family and Ganoderma genus, it is commonly known as Thin-cover Ganoderma, or Bo Gai LingZhi, basidiocarp (fruiting body) is annual, suberinite. The pileus (cap) is semicircle (semicircular), conchoidal or fan-shaped, size is 7.5–9 × 8–10 cm, thickness is 1 cm, the surface is puce (purple-brown), sometimes the edge color is lighter, maroon (brownish red) to brown yellow, has a lacquer-like luster, with concentric rings and rumples; the edge is thin and intact, sometimes is valviform; the context is well-proportioned rusty brown, the thickness is about 0.3 cm; the fungus tube is brown, about 0.6 cm long; the hole surface is stained white (dirty white) to rusty brown, there are wounds when it is fresh, the ostiole orifice is orbicular, 4–5 per mm.
The husk structure is sporiferous layer type, and compositive hyphae are clavate, the tip is enlarged, the width is 3–6 μm, length is 10–20 μm.
The mycelial system is three-body type: generative hypha is colorless and transparent, has a diaphragm, and is often distorted, 4-7 μm in diameter; skeletal hyphae are fawn colour (flavotestaceous), pachypleurous (thick wall) to farctate, and occasionally arborizations (dendritic branching) on the tip end, 5–6.7 μm in diameter, binding hypha is the same color as skeletal hyphae, with branches, and mostly are curved, 1.7–3.3 μm in diameter.
The basidiospores are oval (egg-shaped), truncated at the top; the outer wall is colorless and transparent, the inner wall is pale yellow to pale brown, the inner wall has spinules, and sometimes the central part has oil droplets, 8.8–11.3 × 6–7.5 (–9) μm.
Ecological Environment: Ganoderma capense (Lloyd) D.A.Reid grows in mountains and forests. This species is mainly distributed in Diaoluoshan Mountain, Hainan, China. This species is also distributed in other regions.
