Botanical description: Ganoderma multplea D.Hou is a fungus of the Ganodermataceae or Polyporaceae family and Ganoderma genus, it is commonly known as Ganoderma multplea., or Chonggai LingZhi. The basidiocarp (fruiting body) is petiolate. The pileus (cap) is orbicular (nearly round) or fan (fan-shaped), superposed (overlapping), 5–10 × 3–4 cm, thickness is 5–9 mm, some prosthecae and pileus (cap) connate, nemaline (fibrous), suberinite to ligneous, the upper surface of the pileus (cap) is in a convex mirror shape, sometimes explanate, the under surface is rarely concave; edges are regular, entire or undulated (wave-like), rarely reflexed; the surface sometimes has annules, uneven (not flat), has umbilicate protuberance, sometimes has concentric ring grooves, has lacquer-like luster, smooth, chestnut brown to pale yellowish red, the color tends to fade towards the edge and pale yellowish or pale whitish. The common prosthecae is irregular, short, and thick, 3–5 cm long, 1–3.5 cm in diameter, pleurogenous, upright or sloping, and has a lacquer-like luster, reddish chestnut brown. The secondary pileus (secondary cap) which grows out from the lower pileus (cap) is 1–2 × 1–2.5 cm, and its thickness is 5–8 mm, prosthecae is short, cylindrical or flat, lateral (pleurogenous), 1–1.5 cm long, the same color as the lower pileus (cap); the fungus tube wall is thin, 1–2 mm long, unstratified (not layered); tube orifice is round, pale yellow-brown.
The husk structure is sporiferous layer type, the ticular layer is thin, the tip of compositive hyphae is suddenly enlarged, the shape is a balloon, the width is 2.35–6.05 μm, about 16.5 μm long, the surface has a layer of very thin lacquer secretion substance.
The basidiospores are oval (egg-shaped), double wall, the outer wall is colorless and transparent, smooth, the tip is umbilicate protuberant or truncated, the inner wall is brown, thick, and has many spinules, 8.2–9.4 × 4.7 μm, the joint point of the basidiospore and sterigma (basidial stipe) is visible at the part near the base.
